Digital Energy Council (DEC) is a non-profit advocacy group whose members work at the forefront of energy modernization, strengthening grid resilience, and creating new, alternative energy channels to power communities. DEC is a respected authority for energy policy development, is the voice for the digital energy industry, and a key resource for understanding, navigating, and identifying opportunities for member companies to enhance collaboration across the broader energy ecosystem. DEC also promotes best practices for industry data collection and dissemination.
The Team
Tom Mapes is Founder and President of the Digital Energy Council, the first advocacy group solely focused on digital energy. Prior to establishing the Digital Energy Council, Tom developed and led the first mining focused government advocacy campaign at the federal level in the United States.
He also previously served at the Department of Energy as the Chief of Staff for International Affairs. In this role Tom was responsible for international energy coordination throughout the United States government. Prior to DOE, he spent several years on Capitol Hill serving several energy-focused members of congress.
Tom graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics.
